I found Dean guitars to be rather heavy in weight. The craftsmanship wasn’t bad overall, but I think Gibson and Fender much better made.

No not particularly,I’m sure if you got a custom made one from them that you specified and chose wood types etc then it would be good quality. But their guitars are made to attract people who like interesting shaped eg. the Dimebag Razorback guitars, but their actual build is not very good, for example one that I tried had a very rough neck and the joins were not up to scratch. At the moment my favourite guitar company is Schecter. I’ve tried lots of their guitars and even their lowest priced models are built really well. I mean some of the lower models, with a pickup change, are very much pro guitars. Anyway, it’s all your preference, personally if you really want to get a Dean, go to a shop and try them out to make sure the one you get has a good build. Otherwise it would be disspointing to spend money ordering one that is not up to scratch.
