Guitar hero for non gamer?

October 6th, 2008 · 8 Comments

First off I want to make it clear that I’m not and never have been a big gamer. The last gaming console I can remember owning was the original sega genisus. However, I am a music lover and I’m getting pulled into the Guitar Hero/Rock Band phenomenon. I currently own no gaming systems and I don’t think I’m willing to shell out the cash for XBox360 for one game. I looked at the DS for Guitar Hero on tour and it seems resonable. My question is: Is it less fun with just the buttons and no actual guitar…is it more difficult? Thanks.

xbox 360 is only 200 dollars now, thats less than a wii. and yes get guitar hero, not on the ds though, it’s not worth it on the ds

People are good with both controllers and guitars but you can't rock out with your controller out.

P.S. Xbox dropped there price to $200 and Rock Band 2 just hit stores.

its not worth it, get the actual controller, so you can have whammy sling ur guitar up, play behind ur back or w/e the hell you wanna do with it, (just don’t hit other band members while playing! xD) granted you have to shell out more but if ur friend has it just go over to there house and play, besides it more fun with other people anyways, i would say more difficult because of the small screen and the hand positions, it’s just a “G.H. quickie game” like 80’s encore before GH3 came out. Lol i wasn’t jkign about hitting other people with the guitar controller i’ve been nailed before lol, my friend was getting WAY to into his “lil solo” and was slinging his guitar around and the strap popped loose and the guitar flew and hit me while i was playign the drums *oww*

Guitar Hero/Rock Band is the ultimate game and you should shell out the 200 bucks for the gaming system to buy it because the D.S. Version was a load of crap because you just didnt get the feel of a real guitar and that you cant have as much fun. Also with the XBOX 360 you can have all the downloadable content that comes with the game.

Whatever you do, DONT buy guitar hero for a hand held console.
The whole point is that you have the proper console guitar, thats the fun of it.

GUITAR HERO is so different to normal games, because its a music game and not your typical war game or sports spin off, that you couldn’t even classify yourself as an “uber gamer” by just having GH.

as many have noticed, the price of xbox 360 continues to plummet. it is worth getting the 360, as i have noticed ds to be a bit uncomfortable. the 360 has tons of features that DS cant and will never have. the 360 is more of an investment.

Some versions of Guitar Hero are also available on the PC with a USB guitar controller if your computer will support it that may be a good way to go =)
