There are tons of Internet sites with free online lessons: google “online guitar lessons” and that brings up lots of possibilities.
Start playing now, a little bit every day, to build up your callouses…good luck.

ultimate-guitar.com
put the name of the song you want in the search bar
pick a tab with 4-5 stars
should look like this
——————-5——
————-3————
or something like that
well each line is a string and each number refers to the fret to play it on
there’s a lot more to playing than just learning songs though so learn chords and theory

EASY!!! im self-taught.
1. Learn scales.
Every meoldy you have ever heard is based on some kind of a scale. A scale is a certain succession of notes within an octave. An octave is a set of every pitch. These are notes in an A octave.
A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, G#, A
(The last A is in the next octave)
2. Learn chords.
Chords are based on scales so you should learn them after you learn some scales. Learn all the major/minor/7th chords and you will know enough chords to accompany almost any song.
A, B, C, D, E, F, G
These are the most cimmonly used chords.
3. Learn some songs!
A very good and fun way to practice your technique is by playing your favorite songs. Pick a song that is not too difficult, look up a gutiar tab for it on sites liek ultimate-gutiar.com, and play your favorite song.
Tabs are easy to read, except for the timing. If you know the song well, then you only need the notes of it.
There are six lines in a tab, and each line represents a string. The top line is the skinniest string, and the bottom line is the heaviest string. The numbers on the lines are the numbers of the frets you are supposed to hold down.
4. Get to the point of understanding.
Once you know enoug habotu guitar, you will develop knowledge about how thigns work adn why thigns sound good, and then you will have a very CLEAR understanding of the guitar. im completely self-taught and i remembre when i didnt know what i was doing atall. im surprised i got to the point i am at today.
As for places to get technique tips and musical theory tips, just surf the web until you find what you are lookign for, there are thousands of websites with useful information. Ultimate-guitar.com not onyl has tabs, it has a lesson column/forum, and alot of user-written blogs about various aspects of the guitar. I hope this helps you.
